Gregory Schnitzer, RN, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-H, RCC, CHC: Coding Quality Expert

Mr. Schnitzer has been involved in the healthcare field for more than 20 years. Originally both a psychiatric nurse and then an Intensive Care Unit nurse in Southern California, Mr. Schnitzer eventually moved into the field of medical auditing. Most recently, he worked for the University of Pennsylvania as an audit specialist in the Office of Audit and Compliance. Mr. Schnitzer is a frequent guest speaker and contributor to several professional coding- and compliance-related publications, including the Journal of the American Health Information Management Association; Part B News; Physician Practice Coder; Cardiology Coding Alert; The RBMA Bulletin (the Radiology Business Management Association's professional journal); The Coding Edge (the American Academy of Professional Coders monthly newsletter); and New Perspectives (the professional journal of the Association of Healthcare Internal Auditors).

He has knowledge of a variety of healthcare-related coding sets including ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, DSM-IV and ABC code sets. In addition to being a compliance officer and HIPAA-protected health information privacy officer resource, Mr. Schnitzer provides valuable guidance on standardized nomenclature and nosology issues. He is a member of the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), a member of the International Federation of Health Records Organizations (IFHRO), a member of the Association of Healthcare Internal Auditors (AHIA) and a member of the Society for Technical Communication (STC). Mr. Schnitzer is a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt through Six Sigma Partnering, LLC.
