Healthcare industry veteran joins CodeRyte, Inc.

George Sears brings experience, insight to rapidly growing company

Bethesda, Md., Oct. 8, 2007—CodeRyte, Inc., the healthcare industry’s premier provider of computer-assisted coding and clinical data extraction technologies, announced today the addition of industry veteran George Sears to its management team. Sears joins CodeRyte as vice president of business development.

Sears brings nearly 35 years of experience with healthcare software. Most recently, Sears served for eight years as vice president of sales for 3M Health Information Systems, Inc., where he directed tremendous growth of the company’s core health information management and revenue cycle product portfolios. During his tenure, Sears’ team annually met and exceeded targeted growth sales objectives. Prior to that role, Sears served as 3M’s national sales manager. Sears joins the growing CodeRyte team that already includes several other recent hires from 3M as well as Cerner Corp.

“With nearly 20 academic practices and more than 2,000 physician users, it is now time to increase our strategic market access points,” said Andy Kapit, CodeRyte’s chief executive officer. “George’s history of success, combined with his demonstrated understanding of and commitment to healthcare, will allow him to help the healthcare information technology vendor community learn what our clients already have—that CodeRyte’s clinical language technology applications are the bridge between quality care, appropriate economics and physician buy-in for interoperability.”

While at 3M, Sears also held positions in marketing, product management, communications and regional sales management. Before joining 3M, he held similar roles with Control Data Corporations Healthcare Services Division. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing.

“I’m thrilled to join a company so well poised for even greater growth,” Sears said. “The natural language processing that CodeRyte is pioneering provides an automated path between the current form of input – physicians’ natural language – and the proposed structures needed to make electronic health records feasible.”
